Shepherd Us, O God April 19, 2018 The Lord is my shepherd. Psalm 23 I have been surprised when I’ve played Bible Trivia with an intergenerational group of parishioners over the years that some of my “easy” questions aren’t so easy, at least to the younger folks. I have asked things like: “The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not want” is the beginning of which psalm? The participants from about age 25 on down give me blank stares. What?! Of course, the older folks have the whole psalm memorized and have it listed in their

Is it Real? April 14, 2018 Spring has definitely sprung around my house. How about yours? Pollen has been everywhere for several weeks, but this week the carpenter bees have been drilling out more of the rail on the back porch and at least two birds appear to be building nests out there as well. We don’t need to ask if Spring is here. We see, feel, and taste it all around us. We know it’s real. Others thought him a traitor and others believed him unethical for participating in a plot to kill Hitler. Bonhoeffer ponders which of all these observations are true and ponders anew

Eastering April 07, 2018 It's Easter – Day 6. For many, it’s Spring break – almost over. For most, it’s business as usual. For us average church-goers, we don’t expect much the Sunday after Easter. Most of the lilies will have been taken home, those left in the church through the week will be wilting, attendance will be cut in half or more. Pastors will try to maintain the Easter energy and they will attempt to preach, as they must every Easter Sunday 2, on the story unfortunately titled, “Doubting Thomas.” I have
